INTRODUCTION

Drhritarashtra and Pandu were brothers. Drhritarashtra married Gandhari, and Pandu was married to Kunti and Madri. King Pandu was cursed with sin while hunting, so he was not allowed to meet his wife. Kunti received assistance for the faithful service of a wise young man, and gave birth to three children, namely, Judithis, Bhima and Arjuna of Yama, Vayu, and Indra respectively. Madri had twins, Nakula and Sahadeva, through celestial physicians called Asvini-Devatas. Dhritarashtra had one hundred children with his wife Gandhari. Pandu has passed away and his sons, the Pandavas, were all raised by Dhritarashtra and his sons called the Kauravas. The Pandavas and the Kauravas grew up together, but because of their courage and ingenuity, the Kauravas could not tolerate them. So the Pandavas decided to live separately, sharing half of their empire.

The splendor of the Pandavas, the wealth and fame displayed during the time of Rajasuya Yajna aroused deep jealousy and greed in the mind of Duryodhana, king of the Kauravas, who, by cunning advice of his uncle Sakuni, invited Judas to a dice game and defeated him cunningly, losing all his wealth and property. It was finally decided that the Pandavas, including Draupadi, should settle in the forest for twelve years in exile, after which they had to live incognito for another year, not to be followed by the Kauravas. This time the kingdom would be ruled by the wicked Duryodhana.

After successfully completing their thirteen years of exile, facing the many obstacles and dangers that the Kauravas had encouraged, the Pandavas, in terms of the treaty, went to the Kauravas to obtain their share of the empire. Duryodhana, however, firmly refused to part with so much land that it would not be covered with a needle. According to Mama Kunti’s advice and King Krishna’s inspiration, the Pandavas decided on a war and tried to get a fair claim on the kingdom by defeating the Kauravas.

Duryodhana and Arjuna, from both the Kauravas and Pandavas factions respectively, were sent to Dwaraka to seek the help of Yadava's warrior, Lord Krishna, in battle. They both found Krishna resting on a bed in his palace. Duryodhana came in and sat on a chair by the head of the bed while Arjuna stood at the King's feet. Meanwhile when Sri Krishna opened His eyes, He naturally saw Arjuna first, then Duryodhana sitting on a chair. After inquiring about their welfare and the purpose of their visit, Sri Krishna, according to existing tradition, gave Arjuna the first opportunity, because of his age, and because of his first impression of Arjuna. Krishna asked Arjuna to fulfill his wish by choosing him unarmed or His mighty army called Narayani Sena. Arjuna, who was devoted to Sri Krishna, expressed his desire to have a King with him, ignoring the mighty Narayani Sena, although Krishna warned that he would remain a witness, bound by a vow of neutrality and neutrality. Duryodhana, with great joy, thinking that Arjuna was a fool, expressed his desire for a powerful army to help his side in the war.

When Krishna asked Arjuna why he had chosen him when he was not fit to take up arms, Arjuna said, "O Lord! You have the power to destroy all the armies just by sight. Why should I choose that useless army? it fulfills my desire in this war. "The Lord, always the most devoted lover of His devotees, gladly accepted his request; and thus Krishna became the driver of Arjuna's chariot in the battle of Mahabharata.

After the return of Duryodhana and Arjuna from Dwaraka, Lord Krishna himself went to Hastinapura once as a messenger for the Pandavas and tried to prevent war. However, under the leadership of Sakuni, the selfish Duryodhana refused to agree to peace work and tried to arrest King Krishna, in which Krishna showed his superior form (Viswarupa). Even the blind Dhritarashtra saw you by the grace of the Lord. King Dhritarashtra, out of love for his sons, lost control of them, and the king of Kaurava, Duryodhana, in vain, decided to join the mighty Pandavas in battle.

While both sides were preparing to start a war, the wise Veda Vyasa approached the blind Dhritarashtra and said: "If you wish to see this terrible tragedy with your own eyes I can give you the gift of sight." The king of Kaurava replied, "O Chief of the Brahmins! I have no desire to see with my own eyes this massacre of my family, but I must love to hear all the details of the war."

Sage then gave the gift of divine vision to Sanjaya, the king's faithful adviser, and told the king, "Sanjaya will explain to you all the events of the war. Whatever happens during the war, you will see directly, hear or know otherwise. Whether the incident happened before his eyes or behind him , during the day or in the middle of the night, in private or in public, and whether it is a real act or thought only, he can be hidden from his eyes. He will know everything, just as it happened. No weapon will touch his body and he will not feel tired. "

After ten days of ongoing fighting between the Pandavas and the Kauravas, in which the great warrior Bishma is thrown into his chariot by Arjuna, Sanjaya announces the news to Dhritarashtra. Tragically the king asks Sanjaya to retrieve the full details of the war for the past ten days, from the beginning of all details as it happens. Here begins the Bhagavad Gita.

Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti!
