Summary of the First Speech:

The great Mahabharata battle between the Pandavas and the Kauravas took place on the sacred plain of Kurukshetra. After the failure of Lord Krishna's peace missions, when He Himself went to Hastinapura as a messenger for the Pandavas, there was no other way for the Pandavas other than to join the war with the intention of gaining part of the empire.

All the famous warriors from both sides had gathered at the battlefield. Tents and carriages, weapons and machinery, wagons and animals covered the vast plain.

Lord Krishna arrived at the scene in a beautiful chariot with white horses. He was going to work as a driver for Arjuna, one of the Pandava officials.

The roar of hundreds of slaves, which erupted suddenly, announced the start of a war. Arjuna sang his "Devadatta" concert, while Bhima, his brother, sounded "Paundra". All the other great heroes blew up their layers.

With both soldiers in uniform, ready for battle, Arjuna asked Krishna to place his chariot among them to test his opponents. He was puzzled by what was happening in front of him, as he could see on both sides, fathers and grandparents, teachers and uncles, in-laws, grandchildren, relatives and comrades

Confusion reigned in Arjuna's mind. Should he be involved in this horrible massacre? Were you supposed to destroy your relatives for the sake of the state and certain pleasures? Would it not have been better for him to give up everything he had and reap his enemies' peace and retire in peace? As these thoughts raced through her mind, a feeling of hopelessness seized Arjuna. He had no enthusiasm for participating in this war. Allowing his bow to slip through his hands, Arjuna could do nothing but turn to Lord Krishna for guidance and enlightenment.

Dhritaraashtra Uvaacha:
