MEDITATION YOG

Summary of Sixth Speech:

Sri Krishna also emphasizes that Yogi or Sannyasin are the ones who have lost the fruits of their deeds, not the deeds themselves. Performance of actions without the eye of their fruits brings purity of mind. Only a purified mind, a mind free from desires, which can engage in constant meditation on Atman. Desire nurtures thought or Sankalpa, which drives the soul into the realm of action. Therefore, no one can have eternal freedom and peace of mind without giving up their desires.

The lower man should be controlled by the higher Self. All the lower desires of the body, mind and senses must be controlled by the power of the Supreme Being. After that the High Self becomes a friend of man. He who has complete control of the body, mind and senses and who is united with God, sees God in all things and creatures. He sees within himself that there is no difference between gold and stone, between friends and foes, between good and bad. It fits perfectly.

The practice of Brahmacharya is very important if one is to be successful in meditation. Preserving and transforming important weeds into spiritual strength provides a great deal of concentration. Fear, too, is an important factor in the fear of God. It believes in the sustaining protection and grace of God.

Aimed for counseling to balance one's daily routine — eating, sleeping, recreation, etc. Excessiveness should be avoided as it prevents the practice of meditation. Living such a balanced life, and assembling all his forces and directing them to meditation on Atman, you wish him to go a little beyond the senses and understanding and associate himself with the happy Atman. You find that Atman's happiness is incomparable, that there is no greater gain than Self. Now that we have found full union with the Self, Yogi no longer descends into ignorance or deception. He no longer enjoys the pleasures of the senses.

Lord Krishna also emphasizes that the mind-set of Atman should be like a flaming fire in a spiritless atmosphere. This ultimately leads to the Lord's vision to all creatures and creatures. Arjuna doubts whether it is possible to engage the mind firmly in the higher Self, as its nature seems to be devoid of instability. Krishna assures her that the practice can be successful with Vairagya (dispassion) and with ongoing effort.

Arjuna wants to know the fate of the aspirant who fails to see the Supreme One despite his faith and integrity. Krishna tells her that the accumulated power of her Yogic practices will ensure her a better future, and better conditions in Sadhana. Whoever wants to get there will be forced to continue his Yogic practices with great vigor and faith and will eventually reach the fulfillment of God.

Krishna concludes that Yogi — the one who found unity with the Supreme Lord — is superior to the self-denying, men of literature and men of action, as these are beyond the reach of ignorance and meet in the Self.
