YOGA FOR THE PERFECTION OF THE PERFECT FAITH
(XVII)
Summary of the Seventeenth Speech:
This expression is called "Yoga of the Division of the Three Kinds of Faith". The gist of this statement comes from the question posed by Arjuna in verse 1 with reference to Lord Krishna's final and closing counsel in the previous discourse, contained in the last two verses (Verses 23 and 24). Arjuna asks, "What about those who, or set aside Scriptural commands but serve in faith?"
The Lord responds and states that the faith of those men who disregard the commandments of the scriptures can be Satattwic, Rajasic or Tamasic. This will depend on the individual's situation. And, on the other hand, as with faith, so does human nature grow.
Therefore, in all things such as sacrifice, worship, compassion, remorse, etc., these qualities are expressed in terms of the type of faith on which the person is based. They produce results based on the quality of the manufacturer's faith. These acts of righteous faith lead to the highest blessings. If done without any faith, all these actions would be in vain and useless.
